Description of the new feature / enhancement
Problem
As the number of shortcuts pinned to the CmdPal Dock grows, the Dock becomes cluttered with a flat list of icons - tools, communication apps, productivity utils, and more all sitting side by side with no way to organize them (we just have three sections for now: left, middle, and right).
New Feature: Folder
I'd suggest adding folder support to the CmdPal Dock.
- A folder should occupy the same space as a single icon in the Dock
- Clicking a folder expands it (inline or a popup modal) to reveal the shortcuts grouped inside
- Users should be able to name folders and drag-and-drop shortcuts into/out of them
Scenario when this would be used?
I use Dock as a persistent launcher bar at the top of my screen (similar to a taskbar, which is set to be automatically hidden). As I pin more shortcuts across different categories, the dock quickly fills up horizontally. A folder system would let me group those shortcuts by category and keep the Dock compact and navigable without losing quick access.
Supporting information
I mocked this up with ChatGPT just to illustrate the idea.
